  • RTNA Farmers Market at NJCU Opens to Provide Healthy Food Options And Support Local Farms

Through a collaboration between New Jersey City University (NJCU) and Redstone The Neighborhood Association (RTNA), Jersey City will welcome its first farmers market serving the Greenville and West Side neighborhoods when the RTNA Farmers Market at NJCU opens this Thursday at 4:00 p.m., at NJCU’s John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center, 110 Culver Avenue.

The market will feature vendors, Farmer Al, which offers seasonal fruit, flowers, and a variety of farm fresh produce from New Jersey; Peace.Love.Pops, which makes ice-pops made from all-natural, locally-sourced ingredients; and Raritan Bakery, which sells cakes, pies, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and rye bread.

“We are excited to collaborate with NJCU to provide a new service to the University community, offer healthy food choices to our neighborhood residents, and support our local farmers,” said Julio Leiva, president of RTNA and one of the market managers.

“NJCU supports a healthier lifestyle for our students and staff, and the entire Jersey City community,” said Dr. Sue Henderson, president of NJCU. “We welcome this partnership with RTNA to bring a farmers market and healthy food options to campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.”

The market will operate on Thursdays, June 26 through August 28, 4:00 -8:00 p.m.; the market will be closed on August 11.
