  • NJCU to Offer One-Day Workshop for Teachers on 'Secrets of Successful Science Fair Projects' on July 16

    New Jersey City University will offer a one-day workshop for elementary and high school teachers, “Secrets of Successful Science Fair Projects,” on Wednesday, July 16, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., in its Center for Teaching and Learning, Vodra Hall, Room 143, 2039 Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City.

    Designed for teachers in grades five through twelve, the workshop will cover Next Generation Science Standards, the research skills and essential steps to a successful project, how to compare scientific and engineering methods, and ways to help students identify and solve a key research question.

    The workshop will also familiarize participants with judging criteria. Participants will also examine previous winning projects and will be advised about “trade secrets” from science competition judges.

    Workshop instructor will be Dr. Vanashri Nargund-Joshi, an NJCU assistant professor of biology and elementary and secondary education.

    Registration, which includes parking, continental breakfast, and resource materials, is $75.00. Workshop participants will receive 0.5 of a continuing education unit for five professional development hours.
