The Trinidad-born artist Kevin Darmanie, a.k.a. Kedar, is the author of graphic novel Kulpit, and best known for his cartoon-related watercolor paintings. He also ran the Kedar Studio of Art in Newark from 2011 to 2012 where he hosted numerous solo exhibitions and talks by local artists. Devoting himself back to his own art this time, Darmanie tackles a challenge of painting on large-scale canvas. These new paintings explore current socio-political issues as well as inspirations from American popular culture and Afrofuturism.
The Lemmerman Gallery is located in room 323 of Hepburn Hall, a neo-Gothic style building facing the main gate on Kennedy Boulevard.
Gallery Hours: Mon.- Fri. 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
