NJCU Foundation

  • Great things are happening at NJCU! Our new president, Dr. Sue Henderson, comes with a new vision and a rejuvenated commitment to the fundraising efforts that support access and academic excellence at the University.

In Fiscal Year 2012, the NJCU Foundation set a new benchmark for our annual fundraising efforts—$2,264,000. These gifts enable us to provide support for scholarships for deserving, yet financially challenged students; invest in capital improvements to our new West Campus; and enhance crucial academic programs in areas such as science, math, and technology (STEM). We are particularly grateful to Congressman Frank J. Guarini, who demonstrated his commitment to NJCU with a $1-million gift.

The U.S. Department of Education awarded NJCU a $9-million Title V grant in 2011 for math and science programs. It includes $1.2 million in matching funds for new endowed gifts. This is excellent news for donors, as each dollar they give toward qualifying endowments will be matched by the U.S. Department of Education. Strengthening the STEM fields at NJCU will better prepare New Jersey’s workforce as a whole and help increase diversity within the high-tech professions in which minorities have been underrepresented.

In 2012, the University launched one of the world’s first Doctor of Science programs in Civil Security, Leadership Management and Policy. We are proud to offer this program through our Professional Security Studies Department, which has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence by the U.S. Government. In 2013, NJCU is launching New Jersey’s first Doctor of Education program in Educational Technology Leadership.
