  • NJCU Nursing student Dhyana Velez, a HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity scholarship recipient, is honored as a "Hispanic Role Model" by the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (January 2016)
  • 6 NJCU STEM students win prizes at 2015 Garden State LSAMP Research Conference. Research was funded by two grant awards: a National Science Foundation LSAMP Phase II Award, and the U.S. Department of Education HSI-STEM Award, "Closing the Completion Gap". (October 2015)
  • Partnership for a Healthier Jersey City awarded $200,000 from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to "Build a Culture of Health". NJCU is a partner (July 2015)
  • NJCU's Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs partners with City of Jersey City, Parks Coalition, and Jersey City Medical Center on RWJF New Jersey Health Initiatives grant (July 2015)
  • NJCU Math students able to view tutorial videos thanks to lecture capture technology purchased through the "Opening the Gate: Improving Mathematics Success for STEM Careers", a U.S. Department of Education HSI-STEM grant. (January 2015)

  • Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop host Culture of Health Forum at NJCU (November 2014)
  • NJCU receives $500,000 award from U.S. Economic Development Administration to help entrepreneurs grow the film, media and communications cluster in New Jersey (June 2014)
  • NJCU's Nursing Department receives $50,000 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through the New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program. 
  • NJCU wins its first international grant competition for educators, an HP Catalyst Academy Fellowship. Dr. Christopher Shamburg will create a MOOC (massively open online class) designed to enhance STEM content for K-12 educators. 
  • NJCU slated to receive $34.6 million in state money to renovate Science Building and improve technology infrastructure. (May 2013)
