Training is available for Microsoft Office and the use of the Internet. See one of our staff members for assistance.
Visit
our tutorials
page to access a collection of self-paced tutorials or the handouts
page to print troubleshooting and quickstart handouts in MSWord, PDF,
or HTML formats for many types of software.
At Microsoft's Web site there is free Web based Self Paced training modules that have short audio introductions, which then go into step-by-step instructional graphics for MSOffice 2003 and 2007 as well as some built in tests. To access these modules go to http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx
Once at that Web page follow these links
-
In the upper right menu box under “All Microsoft Sites menu, click the “Training and Events” link.
-
On the next menu list click the “Office Online Training and Demos” link.
-
Then scroll half way down the page to view “Browse Office 2003 Courses” (this is the NJCU standard, which is on University computers).
-
Click the Tab for “Office 2003”.
-
Click the application link (Word 2003, Access 2003 etc) for the training modules list available for that application. The modules list, starts from introductory to more advanced training with descriptions.
The only down side is that there are no training data files that accompany the online training, but often they show graphics within the step-by-step instructions, which shows you what type of file to create to complete the training with a real file for hands on practice. The strong point about the modules is it teaches the concepts needed to use the software. Also, each module has a menu at the top for Downloads, Clip Art, Templates as well as other resources. Give it a try when you find yourself trying to figure out how to create something in one of the MSOffice applications.
