The University Advisement Center provides information
and support to assist undergraduate students to complete their general
studies requirements, gain entry into an academic major, and successfully
complete their undergraduate degree. UAC is responsible for testing all
incoming students, advising undeclared students (with the exception students
participating in a particular program i.e. EOF/OSP, TLC, etc.), and completing
transfer evaluations.
Office
of Academic Advisement
OAA is the central resource for advising
undergraduate students who have not yet declared their major academic program
of study. Students
are assigned an academic advisor until they are accepted into a major,
at which time they are assigned to a faculty advisor. The Center
processes application for admission to a major and change of major. Whether
or not a student has indicated a major on the admissions application,
each student must apply for admission to a major program of study by
filling out the Declaration of Program of Study Form at the UAC.
Testing Services
UAC is responsible for coordinating the Freshman Placement
Testing Program. Once students have been matriculated (deposit paid)
they receive an invitation letter to take the Placement Test. The test
assesses a student's skill level in English and Mathematics, determining
which required courses the students will take during their first semester
at NJCU. For more information.
Transfer Resource Center
The Transfer Resource Center is a place for students who transfer credit
to inquire about and receive referrals to the academic and support services
provided on and off-campus. The TRC provides the following services:
- Transfer Credit Evaluation
- Academic Advisement
- Transfer Mentor Program
Office of International Students and Study Abroad
After
F-1 visa students are accepted into the university, the coordinator
advises them into courses. The coordinator continues to advise
them academically until they have qualified for and been accepted into
their chosen major. In addition, students are guided to adjust
to their new surroundings, both in the course "Orientation to American
College Life" and individually.
Study Abroad @NJCU
NJCU offers a wide range of countries
from which to choose. Argentina, Cyprus, England, Fiji, Italy, Japan,
