The Department of Multicultural Education conducts research on language acquisition and learning in multicultural contexts. Students interested in Teacher Certification in Bilingual Education or Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) should see the department for information about certification programs.
ACTFL language Proficiency Assessment Tests for ESL and Bilingual certification are arranged through the University Testing Center. Oral Proficiency Interviews and Writing Proficiency Tests, in English and in the students’ native language, can be scheduled by contacting the ACTFL language Proficiency Assessment Coordinator, Ms. Sasha Guios, at (201) 200-3305.
