The Department of Multicultural Education conducts research on language teaching and learning in multi-cultural contexts. The Department of Multicultural Education, together with the Center for the Imagination in language Learning, co-sponsors the Annual Conference on the Role of the Imagination in Language Learning.

Students interested in Teacher Certification in Bilingual Education or Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) should see the department for information about graduate preparation programs.
ACTFL Language Proficiency Assessment Tests for ESL and Bilingual certification are arranged through the Dept. of Multicultural Education. Oral Proficiency Interviews and Writing Proficiency Tests, in English and in the students’ native language, are scheduled on Mondays through Thursdays between the times of 10am - 4:30pm.

Applications forms can be obtained here or in person from the Department of Multicultural Education, Professional Studies Bldg., room 209.
