The Special Education Department
(SPEC) is accredited by both the Council for Exceptional Children
(CEC) and the National Association for the Accreditation of Teacher
Education (NCATE).
Candidates interested in early childhood special education should
refer to the Early Childhood Department for further information about
this program. Program completers will be eligible for dual certification.
The Special Education Department offers
a BA in Elementary Special Education. Program completers will be
eligible for dual certification. This program is undergoing final
approval anticipated academic year 2005-2006.
The Dual Teacher Certification candidate's
major must complete a full academic major in one of the following
areas: Biology, Chemistry, English, Geoscience, History, Mathematics,
Physics, and Spanish.
