NJCU Graphic Artist Ella Rue Serving on N.J. Commission on Higher Education Sub-Committee
Ella Rue of Califon, a graphic designer in the New Jersey City University Office of Publications and Special Programs, is serving on the Adequate/Predictable Resources Team of the Long-Range Planning Committee of the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education.
The Adequate/Predictable Resources Team is one of four sub-committees formed to address issues related to plans for higher education in New Jersey. As a graduate of Raritan Valley Community College, Ms. Rue is the only representative of community college graduates to serve on any of the four New Jersey Commission on Higher Education Long-Range Planning Committee sub-committees.
The Long-Range Planning Committee is part of the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education's efforts to work in collaboration with the President's Council and college and university governing boards to identify and consider key issues in higher education that must be addressed.
The Committee's work will form the basis of the draft of Governor James E. McGreevey's first higher education summit which will be held later this month. Following the summit and in preparation for one scheduled for the spring, the Adequate/Predictable Resources Team will continue to collaborate to establish action plans and performance measures.
A member of the NJCU staff for the past year, Ms. Rue has worked in the marketing and design field since 1998, holding positions as a marketing and graphics specialist at SetFocus LLC in Parsippany; marketing communications coordinator and marketing assistant at Cordis Endovascular, a Johnson & Johnson company located in Warren; and design assistant at McDaniel Design in Basking Ridge.
Ms. Rue, who also is a member of the New Jersey Community College Team for Tomorrow Blue Ribbon Commission, is serving a three-year term as president of the Phi Theta Kappa Middle States Alumni Association that will end next year.
She has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors for her art and poetry.
Ms. Rue holds a bachelor of arts degree from Montclair State University and an associate of arts degree from Raritan Valley Community College.
