Support NJCU

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations includes:
Wanda Rutledge, Director of Alumni Relations
Mary Schmidt, Adminstrative Assistant

Maureen McGuire, Director of Development
Genise Colon, Administrative Assistant

The office raises funds for NJCU's annual fund, endowed scholarships, academic programs, and special projects.

The NJCU Annual Fund
As NJCU has gone from being a wholly-funded state school to a state-supported institution to a state-assisted university, alumni participation in the annual fund has become a top priority.

That is why we turn to you, our alumni and friends, to support your University.Your tax-deductible gift to the annual fund helps to provide students with financial aid packages and scholarships; support innovative academic programs and research projects; enhance our magnificent library and technological services; and fund faculty development and recruitment.

Within the Annual Fund, you can request that your gift be directed to one of the following specific areas:

  • NJCU General Unrestricted, to address the University's most critical needs
  • The Congressman Frank J. Guarini Library, to maintain and improve research and technological systems
  • NJCU Athletic Program, to assist NJCU's students who represent the University through athletic excellence
  • Emergency Student Loan Fund, to support students' unexpected financial needs
  • NJCU Annual Giving Scholarship, to build a strong scholarship program for qualified NJCU students.

Phonathon
NJCU students are our phonathon callers because they're the ones who are most directly affected by your willingness to support the annual fund. When a phonathoner calls, take a moment to chat - it's a great opportunity to get to know a little about a student, to discover how things have changed at NJCU, and how similar students' hopes and aspirations are to their own.

Matching Gifts
Numerous employers have matching gift programs to support the charitable interests of those who work for them. Please ask if your company has such a plan. If they do, we would be grateful if you would take advantage of their generosity and request matching funds for your gift to NJCU.

Planned Gifts
In addition to an annual gift, we will be happy to discuss a planned gift with you. Planned gifts include a bequest in your will, charitable trusts and gifts of life insurance. Such gifts can provide an income for life and generate substantial financial and tax benefits to you and your loved ones, while being of enormous value to NJCU.

For more information about planned giving, please call John Nevin, Vice President of University Advancement at 201-200-3344.
