      Facilities

       A wide variety of sports and recreational activities are available at two facilities: 

      • The John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) is a 72,000-square-foot facility that features a 2,000-seat basketball and volleyball arena, a fully equipped exercise and fitness center, a 25-yard pool, a racquetball court, and a jogging track.  
      • The Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex, NJCU’s primary outdoor facility, features a 3,000-seat soccer stadium and baseball and softball fields at a scenic waterfront location. 

      NJCU Intercollegiate Sports

      NJCU sponsors 12 intercollegiate sports. The Gothic Knights compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III. NJCU competes in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in nine of its 12 sports. The women’s bowling team is an associate member of the Northeast Conference (NEC) while the men’s volleyball team competes in the Skyline Conference. Men’s golf participates as an independent. NJCU is also a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) in all sports.

      Intramurals

      An extensive, highly competitive and varied intramural sports program provides an opportunity for both team and individual participation for the entire NJCU community. Click here for Intramural website.

      Recreation Program

      The recreation program provides an opportunity for unstructured activities and free play on a daily basis.  The JMAC is used for a wide variety of recreational activities including:

      • Jogging
      • Swimming
      • Basketball
      • Racquetball
      • Weight training and conditioning

      The recreation program is open to the entire New Jersey City University community.
