Thomas
M. Gerrity Athletic Complex
Located
less than a mile southwest of the main campus on Newark Bay,
the Complex opened in the late 1970’s and had undergone
constant upgrading ever since.
The
Thomas
M.
Gerrity
Athletic Complex is utilized for practice and games by the
men’s soccer, women’s soccer, baseball and softball teams.
A 3,000-seat multi-sport stadium and team house is the
centerpiece of the complex. New bleachers and an enclosed
press box were added in 1991. A new practice area was added to
the south end of the main stadium in the spring of 1997.
The
Gothic Knight baseball team competes on the adjacent diamond,
which also features a pressbox. The Robert L. McNulty Memorial
Soccer Field, comprised of the spacious outfield area of the
baseball facility is where the men’s and women’s soccer
teams practice and play. The softball field, located on the
northeastern corner of the main stadium field, features new
dugouts.
Formerly
known as the Tidelands Athletic Complex, the facility was
named in memory of
Thomas
M.
Gerrity
on
October
21, 1995
.
Gerrity, who served as Athletic Director at then-Jersey City
State
College
from 1958-77, was instrumental in the acquisition and
development of the land for the multi-sport outdoor facility.
He is a charter member of the NJCU Athletic Hall of Fame.

Nearby
Lincoln
and
Bayonne
parks serve as the main training area for the men's &
women’s cross country and men’s and women’s indoor and
outdoor track & field teams. The indoor track teams also
practice on the elevated jogging track at the AFC.
Hudson
Lanes in
Jersey
City
is the main practice facility for the women’s bowling team,
which competes in events around the country, from
coast-to-coast.
Six
composition-surface tennis courts are located off West Side
Avenue, and are available for recreational use by students,
faculty and staff.
There
are seven intercollegiate varsity sports for men and eight for
women.
