    1098-T Information

    In an effort to better serve our students and families New Jersey City University has contracted with Educational Computer Systems, Inc. (ECSI) to print, mail and store your 1098-T online. Since 1972, ECSI has provided clients with intuitive, user-friendly software and solutions. ECSI provides customer service through a 1-800 phone service and offers live chat to assist in answering any questions. ECSI will be mailing you a copy of your 1098-T before January 31, 2014. Detailed information regarding tax credits can also be found at www.ecsi.net/1098T.

    If you do not receive your 1098-T in the mail on January 31, 2014, please call ECSI at 1-866-428-1098 or login at www.ecsi.net/1098T. ECSI will provide you with your login information so you can view and print a copy of your statement. New Jersey City University Bursar Office will not be able provide copies of your 1098-T.

    To access your 1098-T for the 2013 calendar year you will need to select, Log into My Account where you will be prompted to enter the following to access your 1098-T:
     
    School Code: KR

    Account: SSN without dashes /hyphens

    Password: Pin number* assigned by ECSI which was printed on the original mailing.

    * Your PIN number was sent with the original mailing from ECSI and if you have misplaced it or never received it, you must call the ECSI 1098-T hotline number at (866) 428-1098. 

     

    HOPE SCHOLARSHIP TAX CREDIT

    LIFETIME LEARNING TAX CREDITS 

    The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 created two new Federal income tax credits for eligible taxpayers paying qualified tuition and related expenses. Both the HOPE CREDIT and the LIFETIME LEARNING CREDIT are claimed on a student's or parent's personal individual income tax Form 1040. More detailed information and instructions can be found on IRS Form 8863 (Education Credits) and Publication 970 (Tax Benefits for Higher Education), which are available at the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/.     Under the provisions of this law, New Jersey City University is required to report to students and to the Internal Revenue Service certain information on a Form 1098-T Tuition Payments Statement (see information). The deadline for mailing CopyB of the Form 1098-T to your permanent home address for all eligible students is January 31, 2014. You can review your account transactions at http://gothicnet.njcu.edu/.
