Hate-fueled Crimes and Policies: Human Rights Threats Due to The Current Presidential Administration

The 2016 presidential election resulted in a surge of hate-crimes and discriminatory policies that negatively affect members of disenfranchised immigrant, religious, and LGBT communities across the nation. Ms. Lecia Brooks (Southern Poverty Law Center’s Outreach Director) will help us understand these events through a discussion of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s 2016 “Hate Map,” New Jersey’s hate groups, post-election hate and harassment incidents, and threats to civil and human rights across the nation.

This event hopes to incentivize NJCU’s vibrant and diverse community to become involved in our democratic processes to uphold justice and equality. Sponsored by NJCU's Department of Criminal Justice.
