About Our SiteThe creation of the ESL Program web site at New Jersey City University was made possible by the Education of Language Minority Students (ELMS) grant program funded by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. The site was specifically designed to allow language minority students and their faculty to enjoy a variety of educational online learning experiences. A unique aspect of the ESL Program web site is the collaborative effort that went into all phases of its creation. From start to finish, the collaboration helped develop professional skills and the ability to work within a team structure. It also increased creative problem-solving ability. An additional benefit for illustration and design students working on the site, is that it nurtured creative development and a better understanding of the design issues that are specific to the web environment. Jennifer Holland, Anthony Lofton and Chris Welby, all students in the Art Department would have been anyone's dream team. Between them they are expert illustrators and they have superb technical ability. As the site will show, their design skills are equally impressive. Through the winter storms of January and the sweltering heat of June, through academic pressure and semester breaks, they have shown up at the Grossnickle Hall computer lab to work on this site and the FC1-ESL site. Excitement about the projects, the fun of working together as a team, and all of the new opportunities to learn drove us on. July 7, 1999: we have quit out of Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver. We have shut down the computers and scanner, and we have closed the door on Room 403. We' re done! We hope our design effort will make your visit an enjoyable one.
