Dr. Marian Leonor

Dr. Marian Leonor is the Testing Administrator of the ESL Program at New Jersey City University. She has worked in the field of ESL for the past fifteen years. Before becoming the ESL Testing Administrator, Dr. Leonor taught ESL and American History at other colleges in the metropolitan area. She has also spent time living and teaching abroad. In addition to her expertise in ESL, Dr. Leonor has a keen interest in immigration and immigration history.

In 1996, Dr. Leonor was awarded a doctorate in History and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her dissertation entitled, "Americanization and the New Immigrant, 1880-1924: A Documentary History," is a reflection of this academic pursuit. Her op-ed pieces on educational issues have been published in the Star-Ledger and the Record. She has reviewed ESL texts for publishers, presented at conferences and workshops, and has worked as a rater for the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, New Jersey.
