Dr. Veronica Massey

Dr. Veronica Massey has taught all levels of English in the ESL Program for over twenty years. Prior to that, she taught French primarily, but also courses in Human and Intercultural Relations and Fundamentals of Communication (English department) at NJCU.

She holds a doctorate in French literature from Columbia University, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and an M.A. in French Literature from the University of Rochester, Graduate Program in France. Her doctoral thesis is an analysis of French initiation narratives of the eighteenth century. In addition, she has taken graduate courses in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) at NJCU. She has served as Coordinator of the ESL Program and of the Modern Language Department. Dr. Massey wrote the first Ethnolinguistic Minority Student (ELMS) grant and served as project director for two grants.

Dr. Massey has a deep interest in fine art, especially oil painting, and has taken drawing, anatomy, and painting at the Art Students League, the New York Academy of Art, the New Brooklyn School and other area art schools. Currently, she studies landscape painting in the summer in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts with Joan Griswold. She is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
