    NEW PRAXIS II TEST CODES 

    **ATTENTION ALL EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION STUDENTS**

    Effective September 1, 2015

     

    There is a new test number for the Early Childhood Praxis II Content Knowledge  

    The new test number is 5025.  The passing score for the test is 156.  

    Any teacher candidate who passes the current test, number 5022, before September 1, 2015, will be grandfathered.

    Please note: If you have started the Old Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects (5031) test prior to September 1st 2014, but have not yet completed the series, you have through August 31st 2015 to do so.

    PRAXIS II PREPARATION COURSE INFORMATION: 

     Continuing Education department is now offering: 

    •  Praxis II - Elementary Test Prep ONLY - Contact Continuing Education for further information  
    • Praxis I - Core Academic Skills for Educators Exam Workshop (CORE) 
    1. Time: 3:00PM-5:00PM
    2. Location: Professional Studies Bldg room 203 
    3. Pre-registration and a fee of $20 is required.
    4. Workshop dates: February 27th, March 27th, and April 24th 2015

    ATTENTION REGARDING CERTIFICATES ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION: 

    The NJ Department of Education has recently announced that ALL information about certificates is now available online, including certificate name, certificate ID number, date of issuance, and expiration date if applicable.   

    Instructions to view this information can be found at www.state.nj.us/education/educators/license/tcis/instructions.pdf. 

    This information will appear on the New Jersey Department of Education website in lieu of the issuance of paper certificates.  

    Therefore, as of May 15, 2015, paper certificates will no longer be issued. 

     

    PRACTICUM & INTERNSHIP INFORMATION  

    • Students cleared for practicum or internship will be registered by the CTPP for the practicum or internship only. Upon registration, one of the following fees will appear on the student’s tuition bill:  
    • Practicum $65 
    • Internship $150 
    • School Nurse $150 

    SPRING 2015 - PRACTICUM & INTERNSHIP START AND END DATES:   

    • PRACTICUM -  Every Wednesday – 15 weeks (Begins January 28th – Ends May 6th)
    • INTERNSHIP - Every day – 15 weeks (Begins January 26th – Ends May 8th

    Policy Overview 
    • The Center for Teacher Preparation and Partnerships will exclusively use the student’s primary email address and phone number to communicate.  Please advise the CTPP immediately if your contact information changes. 
    •  Effective September 1, 2015, COE program entry requirement are: 
    1. GPA of 3.0-The Dean’s office may grant permission for a student to enter the program with a GPA below 3.0, but all students must achieve a 3.0 to qualify for certification.        
    2. Passing score on Praxis Core (or SAT, ACT, GRE waiver) 
    3. Passing score on the COE TOW&R assessment 
    4. Successful completion of all phase I coursework with a grade of B- or above* 
    • Prior to the internship, early childhood, elementary and secondary education students must pass the appropriate Praxis II test.  A complete score report The passing score including sub-scores must be submitted to the CTPP.
    • The majority of placement requests will be made within the College of Education’s partnership districts; Jersey City, Union City, West New York, Bayonne, North Arlington, Harrison, Kearny, Newark, E. Newark, Secaucus, and Long Branch.  Internship students will not be placed in districts where they reside, where they attended school, or where their children or siblings are enrolled. 
    • Confirmed school placements will not be changed without evidence of extenuating circumstances and consent from the department chairperson.
    • The maximum credit load for internship students is 15 credits including both the internship and concurrent seminars. The maximum credit load for practicum students is 18 credits.  Exceptions must be approved by the department chairperson.
    • It is expected that practicum and internship students attend the appropriate orientation the week prior to the start of the semester.
    • Practicum and internship students should refer to the Practicum and Internship Handbook located on the CTPP website for detailed information.
