The Health Information Manager is a health care professional responsible for management aof health information systems consistent with medical, administrative, ethical and legal requirements. Health information professionals collect, analyze and utilize data to provide information critical to the health care industry. A registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) collects many kinds of data from a variety of sources, monitors the integrity of the information, ensures appropriate access to health records and manages the analysis and use of this data. This professional is an essential connection between physicians, patients, payers and others in the healthcare industry.

Our Program
The HIM program is a four-year baccalaureate degree program completed in two stages. Students complete general education courses at New Jersey City University (68 credits), then professional courses in HIM at Rutgers School of Health Related Professions (61 credits).

Course Requirements
NJCU’s Health Information Management (HIM) program is a joint Bachelor of Science program with Rutgers School of Health Related Professions (SHRP). Students complete 68 credits of general education courses at NJCU and 61 additional credits of professional coursework in HIM at Rutgers.
