The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is proud to offer a wide variety of teacher preparation programs to meet your potential interests as well as the needs of our nation’s schools.
We offer the following certification programs at the undergraduate level:
- Elementary Education (Grades K - 6)
- Middle School Subject Endorsement (Grades 6 - 8)
- Secondary Certification (Grades K - 12)
We also offer the following programs at the graduate level:
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) with Subject Endorsement
- Master of Arts in Urban Education / Teaching and Learning (M.A.)
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education prepares distinguished educators for the state of New Jersey, the country, and many foreign countries. New Education Major Requirements
As of September 2015, undergraduate students who have not already successfully completed phase I coursework must fulfill new program entry requirements in order to take any upper level education courses. In addition, there will be new matriculation requirements for graduate students seeking teacher certification. Please click here for more information.
