Dr. Sanders received a BA fromMorgan State University and Ph.D. at Howard University.She taught at Morgan State University, Lincoln University and the University of Zimbabwe before coming to New Jersey City University in 1988. Dr. Sanders has travelled extensively throughout Africa.
