PERSONNEL POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND PRACTICE

Sick Leave

Faculty who, on occasion, are unavoidably absent because of personal or family illness, should report their absence to the Chairperson or Dean.

Eligibility For Sick Leave

Faculty are credited with one and one-quarter (1 _) days of sick leave for each month of employment for a total of twelve and one-half (12 _) days annually.

Unused sick leave is cumulative and may be used for personal illness. Sick leave may also be used in the event of the death of a member in the immediate family or in situations which require the short-term attendance to a member of the immediate family who is seriously ill.

Reporting of Sick Leave

For reasons of business necessity, absences due to illness or death in the family must be reported immediately to your dean. Should illness require an employee to be absent from work for five (5) consecutive working days or more, medical documentation must be submitted to the Human Resources Department after the fifth day of the absence.
