New Jersey City University Faculty Handbook
PERSONNEL POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND PRACTICE
When it becomes evident that a medical condition will require additional absence from work, a medical leave of absence (with or without pay) must be requested in writing and approved by the Dean. Such requests require medical documentation stating the nature of the illness, prognosis and expected return to work date.
This time is given in advance with the expectation that you will work for the University throughout the calendar year. If your employment terminates with the University before the end of the year, your time will be adjusted to the amount of time you would have accrued monthly. If you have taken more days than you would have accrued monthly, the negative balance will be taken from your final pay check.
