Rebecca Feranec MFA Exhibition

"Emission Accomplished" entails multi-media employment through sculpture, drawing, photographic documentation, and the preliminary sketches of two interactive educational projects: "Floating Gardens" and "Mobile Gardens." The installation contains large-scale drawings of gas pumps and uses an interactive manual lighting system to view drawings without the use of a conventional energy source.
Inspired by Anges Denes, Mel Chin, Alan Sonfist, Roxy Paine, and Mary Miss, ecological artists who often amalgamate various disciplines and fields to present possible environmental solutions within the context of art, this body of work is intended to create dialogue and challenge perceptions regarding energy and the environment. The exhibit also seeks to encourage thoughts about the possibility of working with nature rather than dominating nature.
