ALERTCAST:  Emergency Notification System Service

The University has contracted with Alertcast to be used as part of our Emergency Notification Service. In the event of an emergency, Alertcast will notify responders simultaneously with a single phone call. This service will be used for alerting members of the CIRT committee, the University Administration List, and the University Floor Wardens who will require notification of emergency or urgent news.

Upon receiving an Alertcast message you will be required to do the following:

• Enter your Primary Notification Number (PIN), see your Alertcast wallet card for PIN number. (Your PIN number is your phone number).
• Listen to the Alertcast prerecorded message.
• After listing to the Alertcast message you'll be asked to respond in one of four ways.
1. I will respond to the event.
2. I will not respond to the event.
3. I have heard and understood the message.
4. I did not understand the message.
• At the end of the call your response will be reported to the initiator of the event.

The University Public Address System

The University is pleased to announce the installation of a campus-wide emergency public address system. The PA system is managed by the Department of Public Safety and will be used during emergency/special situations only. The system integrates into the campus telephone system and offers both flexibility and unlimited future expansion. The system has been installed at all on and off campus facilities.

The goal of implementing the system is to provide Public Safety with an efficient notification system by using either pre-recorded messages or real time announcements.
