What is Computer Science? “Computer Science is the name given to the body of knowledge and techniques that are concerned with the design and exploitation of computer technology. It is a discipline that spans a multi-dimensional spectrum from deep and elegant mathematics to crafty programming, from abstraction to solder, from deep truth to elusive human factors, from scholars motivated purely by the desire for knowledge to practitioners making everyday life better. It combines the ethos of the scholar with that of the professional: the former probes the limits of computation, experimentally as well as theoretically, while the latter finds solutions to immediate problems of practice.” --Are We Scientists or Engineers? Computer Science emerged from the fields of mathematics and engineering; therefore, the knowledge acquired in this area of study is applicable in a wide range of environments that require the integration of technological concepts. Why study Computer Science?
