Scholarships

Additonal NJCU Financial Aid Programs
New Jersey City University offers a comprehensive need-based financial assistance program that makes higher education a reality for many students. In fact, 90% of the students who apply for financial aid (including most qualified incoming freshmen), are provided with assistance.

There are three general types of federal and state aid offered, each with its own eligibility requirement;

Grants
Grants are considered gift aid, therefore they do not have to be repaid. These include the Federal PELL Grant, the New Jersey Tuition Aid Grant, and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG). Federal PELL Grants are awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree.

Loans
Loans, which are considered self-help, must be repaid with interest. These include the Federal Perkins Loans, the FFEL Subsidized Stafford Loan, the FFEL Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, and the FFEL PLUS Loan. These loans typically have lower interest rates. The Stafford and Perkins loans require repayment only after graduation or after a student ceases to be enrolled on at least a half time basis.

The New Jersey City University Financial Aid Office has selected Chase Manhattan as the preferred lender for the institution. Parents and students interested in applying for a PLUS Loan can call 1-800-891-1410.

Work Study
Through the Federal Work Study program allows you to earn your award by working part time at the University. Job opportunities are available in various departments and offices on campus.
