The
Peter W. Rodino, Jr. Institute of Criminal
Justice was established on June 5, 1977 at New
Jersey City University. The Institute promotes
the urban mission of the University.
The
Rodino Institute is dedicated to improving the
operations of the criminal justice system and to
supporting issues of social justice. It serves
as a major avenue for an exchange of ideas
between the community, the Department of
Criminal Justice/Fire Safety /Security
Administration and the University.
It
seeks to accomplish this by mobilizing the
resources of the University and by reaching out
to the community-at-large in a variety of ways:
by sponsoring conferences and seminars for
professionals and the general public on critical
criminal justice issues; by providing technical
assistance to local police, court, correctional,
probation, parole and juvenile justice agencies;
by conducting innovative research and
demonstration projects; and by assisting in
developing opportunities for student internships
in criminal justice agencies.
