Q:
How can I receive my NJCU (school) Email at my home Email account?
A: This is an excerpt from the MIS website, Support section on
Help with Email. Please refer to this site for more information about
Email and other applications supported by our department at:
http://www.njcu.edu/dept/it/support.html#email
Both the NJCU Online and the official NJCU Email systems have forwarding
capabilities, that can be used to consolidate your messages to another
Email address.
For
the Official NJCU Email System
- Logon
to VMS using the Terminal Access Method - either by Telnet to jcs1.njcu.edu,
or by using one of the Video Terminals (VTs) located throughout the
campus. (A complete discussion of this method and others is described
in the document "Accessing
NJCU Email" in the "Help with Email sub-section" of Support: Tips
& Hints.)
- Start
the VMS Mail client, either by selecting it from the menu or by typing
"Mail" at the DCL prompt ($), then hitting the "Return" (or "Enter")
key. You should then see the "Email>" prompt.
- Type
"Set Forward ", then hit the "Return" (or "Enter")
key.
- Type
"Show Forward", then hit the "Return" key. Check your forwarding address
to make sure you did not make a mistake. Otherwise, the sender will
get a delivery error or, even worse, the messages may just "disappear".
The Email system will automatically wrap your forwarding address with
IN%"_______". This is normal. To undo VMS Mail forwarding, type SET
NOMAIL at the Email prompt.
Note:
Both Email systems can also be "POP"ed directly using a Web or
PC Email Client. Please refer to the above-mentioned document for details.
