Build A Website (Departments, Faculty and Others)
BUILD A WEBSITE
You can easily build a website for your department, etc. (as well as faculty member websites) by using an easy to use online application. Note: If you can create a Word document, you can use this easy to use online application to build a website.
See a sample website here - which includes the following features. (If you would like a quick and closer look at this sample website demo, please contact Help Desk.)
Standard features:
- NJCU Header (at the top) and Disclaimer and other information (at the bottom), already in place.
- NJCU Quick Links - are already in place at the top of all pages.
- NJCU Primary Links - are already in place at the top of all pages, for easy navigation.
Pus these following features:
- Your own custom graphic banner will be created for your website - to appear on all pages.
- A separate and easy to use navigation bar (on the left, going down) for your website pages and content.
- An easy to use website editing application. No techie stuff to know. As stated above, if you can use Microsoft Word, you'll be able to learn how to use this easy to use website building application.
- You'll be able to add your own photos to your website, upload documents, add pages, delete pages, edit pages, etc. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all at your own convenience.
- Then, at the bottom of all pages (without you having to do anything), users will have the ability to email a link to any of your web pages to a friend, etc., also to bookmark any of your web pages, and a convenient way to quickly print out your web pages.
For more information on getting started and for a quick training session on how to get your website up quickly and easily, please contact the Help Desk by email or by phone at x4357.

COLORS
The traditional colors of NJCU are green and gold, represented in print
by Pantone [TM] or PMS [TM] (Pantone Matching System) colors. The closest
hexadecimal color equivalents are shown below.
| Green | PMS 561 | HEX #07574C |
| Gold | PMS 129 | HEX #CC9900 |
A palette of additional ink colors are used in NJCU print publications.
You may wish to include one or more of these additional colors in your
web page to help project a consistent image.
| Red | PMS 703 | HEX #CC3333 |
| Blue | PMS 659 | HEX #6699CC |
| Violet | PMS 2577 | HEX #9966CC |
| Orange | PMS 718 | HEX #CC6600 |
FONTS
Graphically, consistent use of fonts goes a long way in projecting a unified institutional image.
Futura is used in printed publications for NJCU and is recommended for headlines; Georgia is recommended for body copy in print publications.
To display standard (body style) text on website pages, the recommended fonts are those in the
Sans-Serif font family, which include
ARIAL, VERDANA, FUTURA and HELVETICA.
When presenting text on a website, it is recommended that fonts be set in a manner that allows them to be resizable by the user. This means that the size of the font should be set using relative size formatting (i.e., 100%, 90%, or 1em, or .9em, etc.) as opposed to fixed size formatting (i.e., 10pt, 12px, etc.).
