Undergraduate Application Procedure

STEP 1:
Complete the New Jersey City University admissions application, making sure you check YES in the box asking if you are applying for EOF/OSP. (If you do not have a copy; contact the admissions office at 201-200-3234 or 1-888-441-NJCU). Return the application to the admissions office and arrange to have your official high school transcript mailed directly to the admissions office.
  Include with your application the following items:
 
  • GED scores and/or diploma
  • An application fee of $35 (cash, personal check, or money order)
  • If you think you may qualify for a fee waiver, see your guidance counselor and have your guidance counselor include such a request with your application.
  • Two letters of recommendation
STEP 2:
IMPORTANT
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the help of your guidance counselor. Be sure to list New Jersey City University as one of the first three colleges you want to receive information. The federal school I.D. code is 002613.
STEP 3:
When your application is complete, the admissions office must send it to the OSP office before you can be invited to the university for an OSP orientation/interview session.


Readmit OSP Application Procedure

As a readmit OSP student you are eligible for OSP if you have earned a CGPA 2.30 or better, are making satisfactory academic progress, can demonstrate to an OSP counselor that you have the potential to complete a university program and qualify for financial assistance. Upon receipt of your acceptance letter from the Admission Office at NCJU:

  • Complete OSP Readmit Interview Form and submit it to the Financial Aid Office, located in Hepburn Hall, Room 215.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • On the day of your appointment bring with you proof of completion of the current N.J. Financial Aid Application.

Attention: All EOF Transfer Students

If you received EOF at your transfer institution, you might be eligible to receive EOF funds at NJCU. The Financial Aid Office at NJCU will determine whether you are eligible to continue to receive EOF funds.

At NJCU the EOF Program is called the Opportunity Scholarship Program (OSP). Entry into OSP is not automatic. In order to be accepted into OSP, you must be interviewed by an OSP Counselor. Once accepted into OSP, you will be eligible to receive EOF Grant, personal and academic counseling, tutoring services, and funds to purchase books and supplies.


TRANSFER OSP Application Procedure

Upon receipt of your acceptance letter from the Admission Office at NJCU:

  • Complete the OSP Transfer Application and submit it to the Financial Aid Office, located in Hepburn Hall, Room 215
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid

On the day of your appointment with an OSP counselor, bring with you:

  • Proof of completion of the current N.J. Financial Aid Application
  • A copy of your Transfer Credit Evaluation Form.

OSP Graduate Application Procedure

An EOF graduate grant of 2,100 per year is available to students who are accepted by the NJCU Graduate Division and fit EOF eligibility requirements. To be eligible to receive an EOF Graduate Grant at NJCU, a student must be:

  • A matriculated student or have the intention to matriculate
  • Registered full time (12) credits
  • A citizen or permanent resident- Financially eligible

Upon receipt of your acceptance letter from the Graduate Office at NJCU:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Complete the EOF Graduate Program Payment Request and Information Form, and submit it to Mr. Andrew Platizky, Vodra Hall, Room 211.
