Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) Early Childhood Education (with P-3 Certification)

  • Students who successfully complete this program and pass the Early Childhood Content Knowledge Praxis II Test (0022) will be eligible for the New Jersey Preschool through Grade Three Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing endorsement.

    The state requires a liberal arts major on an undergraduate degree or 60 liberal arts credits on an undergraduate degree. Candidates are required to meet with an advisor prior to the start of this certification sequence.

    New matriculation requirements for graduate students seeking teacher certification: 

    1. GPA of 3.0 (The Dean’s Office may grant permission for a student to enter the program with a GPA below 3.0, but all students must achieve a 3.0 to qualify for certification.)
    2. Passing score on Praxis Core (or SAT, ACT, GRE waiver)
    3. Passing score on the COE TOW&R assessment

    Students may take up to 6 graduate credits before matriculating into a graduate program.
