This program is designed for teachers with at least five years of successful teaching experience who hold a valid master’s degree in an educational field and are ready to take the next step to lead New Jersey’s public schools as highly qualified principals. Each cohort has a maximum enrollment of 20 students.
Professors teaching in the program are former principals, assistant superintendents, and/or superintendents. This fast-track program features an extended internship over two semesters leading to New Jersey Department of Education certification as a principal and supervisor. The program provides a practical, problem-based curriculum with a strong theoretical base in teaching and learning, assessment, organizational culture, and change.
The program begins in July and ends the following June, using a blended course format. Students attend a few classes in the evening, work online during the summer sessions, and attend class one full Saturday a month during the fall and spring semesters.
