  • Join the America Reads Tutoring Project!  

    Do you: like to work with children? Enjoy reading? Value diversity? Want to make a difference in the lives of others?

    AMERICA READS is a way to get paid while serving the NJCU community. This work-study program places you in a Jersey City Public School where you will work 10-15 hours/week helping students advance their literacy skills. No educational experience is needed. 


    • MUST be federal work-study eligible
    • Ability to work 10-15 hours (on a regular weekly schedule (created in conjunction with your schedule.
    • Willingness to work in either Jersey City Public School # 34, Jersey City Public School # 38, or A. Harry Moore School. All are less than a 10 minute walk from campus.
    • Commitment to serve your community and the students within.
    • Ability to attend 1-2 training sessions throughout each semester.
