platizky Andrew Platizky, director of NJCU’s Opportunity Scholarship Program (OSP), is the recipient of the Employee Recognition Program Award for January 2006.

Mr. Platizky has been an employee of the University since 1979, starting as the Assistant Director of the program and becoming director in 1982.

As director of OSP, his responsibilities include coordinating a program that assists students in gaining access to the University and provides them with a variety of support services. The program, established at NJCU in 1968, helps students successfully complete studies so they may go on to graduate and achieve their career objectives.

Mr. Platizky, a Bayonne resident, received a bachelor of arts degree from Rutgers University with a double major in psychology and history. He also holds a master of arts degree from Yeshiva University and certification as a public manager from Rutgers University.

Mr. Platizky has served Temple Emanu-El in Bayonne in a number of capacities through the years. He has served as vice president and co-president of the Temple’s Brotherhood organization, and as secretary, vice president, and president of the Temple Emanu-El Board. Mr. Platizky also volunteers for the UJA Federation (United Jewish Appeal), an umbrella charitable organization, and is currently the co-chair of the Bayonne Chapter of the National Conference for Community & Justice (NCCJ).

Mr. Platizky and his wife, Charlene, reside in Bayonne with their sons Isaac, a member of NJCU’s Class of ‘03, and Samuel, an NJCU senior.
