Candice Fair, assistant director of New Jersey City University’s Opportunity Scholarship Program (OSP), is the recipient of the Employee of the Month Award for January 2008.
Ms. Fair began her employment at New Jersey City University in 1975 as an administrative assistant in the OSP office and the following year was promoted to OSP counselor. In 1980, Ms. Fair began to recruit students for the program and was so successful in that capacity that she has continued to recruit for the program ever since.
Ms. Fair visits high schools in Hudson, Essex, and Bergen counties, where she gives presentations to high school seniors about the benefits the OSP at New Jersey City University. In addition, she recruits at churches, training programs, and welfare organizations.
An alumna of NJCU, Ms. Fair received both her bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from the University.
Ms. Fair, a resident of Jersey City, is the mother of a 22-year-old daughter, Alexis. For recreation, she enjoys singing and doing volunteer work in the community.
