Lourence Alviar, a staff member of New Jersey City University’s Housekeeping Department, is the recipient of the Employee Recognition Award for the month of February.
Mr. Alviar has been employed by the University since September 29, 1997. Prior to joining the staff of NJCU, he had been a utility worker with Aramark, a job he obtained when he came to the United States from the Philippines in 1995.
Currently assigned to the busy second floor in Hepburn Hall, Mr. Alviar’s responsibilities include keeping the offices neat and clean as well as ensuring that the offices and hallways on that floor are always in good order. Because many members of the University community regularly visit that area and enter the campus through Hepburn Hall’s front door, Mr. Alviar’s job is extremely important. He is known widely for his outstanding customer service skills.
A resident of Jersey City, Mr. Alviar and his wife Marcy recently purchased their home. In his spare time, cooking is a favorite hobby.
