Robert Dean Quinones, NJCU’s assistant director of the Office of Campus Life, coordinator of community service, and Greek life advisor, is the recipient of the Employee Recognition Program Award for May 2006

Mr. Quinones, who graduated from NJCU in 1999 with a bachelor of science in criminal justice, has been an employee of the University since graduation.  His career at NJCU began in the Office of Financial Aid. 

In August 2002, he joined the Student Support Services staff.  Last year, Mr. Quinones was named to his present position in which he encourages students to become active citizens.  He also advises students participating in the NJCU Greek System, which consists of ten fraternities and sororities. 

Mr. Quinones also serves the campus community as a member of the NJCU Leadership Development Committee, and the NJCU Spirit Committee, the Outcomes Assessment Team.  He is webmaster for the NJCU BEAMS website, facilitator for SHANGO, and campus advisor for the St. Jude Up ‘til Dawn campaign that raised $20,000 for the children’s research hospital over the past two academic years.  Mr. Quinones is Senior Class advisor and advisor to the NJCU Alternative Spring Break Program through which students use their spring break to provide outreach services. 

Mr. Quinones was named to the Jersey City Salvation Army’s Board of Directors in September 2005.  He advises the organization on its after school program and on social services provided by the organization to the greater Jersey City community.

Currently enrolled in Capella University’s School of Human Services, Mr. Quinones is pursuing a master’s degree in social and community service.

He is married to Barbara Quinones, a special education teacher in Jersey City who is a NJCU alumna.  She earned a bachelor of arts in English in 2000 and a master of arts in special education in 2005.  He is the father of three-year-old Jason Xavier Quinones.
