Guilbert Merchan, a mechanical stores clerk in the Office of Facilities and Construction Management, is the recipient of the Employee of the Month Award for October 2007.

Mr. Merchan began his career at New Jersey City University in March 1996 as a member of the staff of the Housekeeping Department and six months later he was promoted to the position of mechanical stores clerk.

Responsible for assisting in the University’s Shipping and Receiving Office on West Side Avenue, Mr. Merchan delivers goods to offices around the campus ensuring that employees receive their orders in good condition and in a timely fashion.

In his spare time Mr. Merchan enjoys making repairs on his house, following the news, and watching soccer matches.

He resides in Jersey City with his wife Hilda, the secretary for NJCU’s Modern Languages Department, and their three children, Cindy, Sharon, and Marcos.
