Patricia
Albers, associate director of financial aid, is the recipient of the Employee
Recognition Award for the month of December, 2006.
As a staff member of the Office of Financial Aid, Ms. Albers assists hundreds
of students on campus and in the community. Her responsibilities in the
Office include helping students complete financial aid applications (FAFSA),
reviewing documentation, completing federal and state verification, and awarding
financial aid to students.
She is responsible for reconciling the State grant programs and visits various
high schools to present financial aid workshops for students and parents. When
NJCU students have problems or questions with financial aid, Ms. Albers helps
them resolve their problems. She also mentors young counselors because
she thinks that being a financial aid officer is a very rewarding profession.
Ms. Albers began her career at NJCU in September 1989 as assistant director of
financial aid. She had worked in the Financial Aid Office of Saint Peter’s
College for ten years prior to joining the professional staff of NJCU.
Ms. Albers is a member of the professional organization, NJASFAA, and attends
workshops to keep up with continually changing federal regulations.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Ms. Albers attended St. Aedan’s Elementary
School, St. Dominic Academy, and Saint Peter’s College from which she earned
a bachelor’s degree in English. She is the mother of three grown
sons, Michael, Russel, and Vincent, and the proud grandmother of five boys and
one girl.
