Early Childhood Education/Special Education (M.A.T.) with certification in:

  • P-3 Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) Endorsement

Admission requirements:

  • A completed graduate application form, including a $55 non-refundable application fee
  • A 250-500 word essay discussing your goals and objectives for pursuing admission to the degree program to which you are applying
  • Official transcripts from all previous colleges attended or official NACES course-by- course evaluation of any foreign transcripts
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Official copy of GRE scores or waiver
  • Passing scores on Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators  – waived if:
    • 1660 combined SAT score
    • 23 ACT score
    • 4.0 analytical writing score and 310 quantitative and verbal GRE scores, or
    • NJDOE issued certification(s)
  • Passing scores on Praxis II Content Knowledge: Early Childhood Education
  • A copy of any teaching certification (a list of your certifications can be downloaded on NJDOE website) if any
  • Official documentation of English Language Proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) or waiver if applicable

Pre-requisites:

  • Must have liberal arts undergraduate major or minimum number of liberal arts credits as determined by NJDOE.
  • Must have completed the following undergraduate course pre-requisites or equivalents:
    • BIO 103 Human Sexual Biology (3 credits), or BIO 104 The Human Body (credits), or passing the NJDOE Physiology and Hygiene test
    • INTD 149 Human and Intercultual Relations (3 credits)
    • MATH 205 Problem Solving (3 credits)
    • PSYC 150 Developmental Psychology: Birth through Adolescent (3 credits)

Priority Application Deadlines:
Domestic Applicants
Fall: July 1
Spring: December 1

International Applicants
Fall: May 1
Spring: November 1

If you are not interested in working toward a graduate degree, but want to take a few graduate classes, applying for Courses Only is a great option.
