The Music, Dance, and Theater Department offers two master's degree
programs:
-Master of Arts in Music Education
-Master of Music in Performance
The music unit of NJCU's Music, Dance and Theater Department is a full
member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Candidates
should consult with the graduate music coordinator regarding advisement,
matriculation, graduation clearance, and arrangements for departmental
exams and auditions.
Master of Arts in Music Education
In addition to the general graduate study admission requirements, an applicant
for admission to this degree program is required to satisfy the following
pre-requisites:
- An undergraduate degree with a major in music or, in exceptional
cases, a proven equivalency in music theory, music history, and repertory.
- Certification for teachers (K-12).
- Proficiency in performance as demonstrated by an audition on a major
instrument or voice.
Master of Music in Performance
In addition to the general
