Defining an Information Need Clearly

- What are your search keyword(s)?


Define Your Information Need

Think carefully about your assignment or research paper. Ask yourself questions to weigh options from various points of view and then define a topic and keyword(s).

Keys to Successful Research
  • Research starts with collecting information on a particular subject or topic.
  • First step to a successful research is to select your topic properly.
  • Research is often interdisciplinary.
  • Think broadly about your topic, then narrow and refine the focus.
  • Keep a record of everything you find and where and how you found it.*
