High School Summer Scholars
New Jersey City University will be offering select high achieving students an opportunity to enroll in college-level courses for the summer session II term. Courses will run from July 5th to August 8th at NJCU. This program provides students with a head start for college at a reduced tuition rate and will expose them to a vibrant University environment. Students who wish to participate in this program should submit the following:
- The NJCU High School Summer Scholars application.
- A personal statement explaining your motivation for attending this program.
- An official high school transcript reflecting all years of high school study.
- Letter of recommendation from guidance counselor
- SAT or PSAT scores (if available)
Students who are selected for the program should possess a record of academic achievement along with a demonstrated motivation for academic success. Admission to the program will be based on a combination of high school grades, test scores and the quality of their written personal statement. Students may be required to take the NJCU placement exam as a condition for enrollment.
Students who are admitted to the program will be charged a reduced rate of tuition and fees. The cost of a 3-credit summer II 2016 course will be $555.15, which includes a 50% discount off of the regular tuition and fees.

Due to the intensive nature of a five-week summer session program, students are limited to enroll in only one 3 credit course.
