                        Carol Crystal, L.M.T.
                 Licensed Massage Therapist

What is massage and how can it help me?

Massage is a systematic manual application of pressure and movement of the muscles and connective tissues of the body, used to reduce tension and stress, improve circulation, aid the healing of muscle and other soft tissue injuries, control pain, enhance sleep, and promote general well-being. Massage techniques have been practiced in both Eastern and Western cultures for thousands of years. There are a variety of massage techniques. Our certified massage therapist, Carol Crystal, C.M.T. has expertise in many types of massage including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, neuromuscular therapy, and reflexology. Many studies show that massage may also benefit a variety of medical conditions including anxiety, asthma, chronic headache, and back pain.

What should I expect on my first visit?

The massage session is given in a relaxing and safe environment. A private examination room with a connecting bathroom is used at the Health & Wellness Center (Vodra 107) for massage therapy appointments.

The massage therapist will begin by asking you questions about your health, any pain you are experiencing, and stresses in your life in order to determine the goals of the session. You will be asked to complete a very brief confidential form for the massage therapist (on your initial visit).

The massage will take place on a padded massage table designed especially for massage therapy. If there are any areas you would like worked on more or if you are feeling discomfort, please let the therapist know.
