The Department of Literacy Education offers three different graduate degree programs:
Students must satisfy the general admissions requirements for graduate study at NJCU. Applicants must have a 2.75 or better GPA for admission to the program, and must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better to graduate. Candidates are advised to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), including the Analytical Writing component of the test and they should contact the department and arrange an interview upon application to the program.
Individuals who already possess a Masters degree and graduate credits in literacy education may qualify for certification-only course work. The NJ State Department of Education must review transcripts to determine eligibility for certification and identify any additional course requirements needed to quality.
