APPLY

Musical Theatre Auditions

In order to be considered for NJCU’s stellar Musical Theatre Program, applicants must first complete a video pre-screen audition.

  • All applicants interested in being considered should first submit a headshot and theatrical resume to Professor Marc G. Dalio, mdalio@njcu.edu.
  • Applicants should prepare and sing two contrasting Musical Theatre selections. These selections could be contrasting in time period (Golden age and Contemporary), contrasting in feel (Up-tempo and Ballad), etc.
  • Selections should be performed from memory, with appropriate accompaniment. This could include a live pianist, recorded piano accompaniment or a karaoke track.  Accompaniment tracks should NOT include other vocals.
  • Applicants should submit a brief monologue, not to exceed 2 minutes. It is recommended that the choice of monologue be from a published source.
  • The deadline for video submission is February 1, 2024.
  • All audition material (both songs and monologue) should be recorded in one video and submitted to Professor Marc G. Dali, mdalio@njcu.edu. Submit by uploading your video to YouTube, creating an unlisted video, and sharing the link.
  • When recording your video, you may use your smartphone or tablet, please record in landscape format. Consider the background.
  • Second round interviews will begin in February, 2024.

PLEASE SEE DIRECTIONS BELOW.

How to upload a video to YouTube:

  1. Sign into your YouTube Account.
  2. Click on the video icon at the top right hand side of the window, which can be found next to your user icon, messages, apps and notifications.
  3. Click the Upload Video button.
  4. Press Select Files to Upload. to find the video as it was saved on your computer or other device.

Making a YouTube Video UNLISTED:

An unlisted video is a different type of private video. "Unlisted" means that only people who know the link to the video can view it (such as friends or family to whom you send the link). An unlisted video will not appear in any of YouTube's public spaces (such as search results, your channel, or the Browse page). An unlisted video is different to a private video in these ways:

  • you don't need a YouTube account to watch the video (you can see an unlisted video if someone sends you the video's link).
  • there's no 25 person sharing limit.

You can choose to make any of your uploads an unlisted video in your YouTube Account settings. Here’s how:

  1. Sign into your YouTube Account.
  2. Go to your My Videos page.
  3. Select the video which you’d like to make an unlisted video. Click the Edit button to access the video’s settings.
  4. Go to the Privacy section of the page. There you’ll see the option to mark you video as “unlisted”, “public”, or “private”. Select unlisted.
  5. Don’t forget to click the Save Changes button. Once you’ve done this your video will be an unlisted video.
