NJCU Nursing Chair Elected to N.J. State
Nurses Association Board of Directors
Dr. Carol S. Kleinman, RN, CNAA, chair of the New Jersey City University Department
of Nursing, has been elected to the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA)
Board of Directors. Her three-year term began on August 1.
A constituent member
of the American Nurses Association, the NJSNA is comprised of approximately 4,000
members. The NJSNA advances the profession, delineating the practice of nursing
through standard setting, education and research, formulating public policy,
and fostering excellence and quality of health delivery in the State.
The chair
of NJCU’s Department of Nursing since 2006, Dr.
Kleinman had most recently served as director of Health System
Administration Programs for Seton Hall University, 1999-2006; director
of Health Services Administration for Nebraska Health Services,
1997-1999; and vice president of Behavioral Health Services at
Broward General Medical Center, 1993-1996.
Currently a consultant
to South University Online and Laureate, Inc., Dr. Kleinman, in addition to teaching
at NJCU, has taught at Walden University, Seton Hall University, the School of
Nursing of Christ Hospital, Essex County College, Clarkson College, Barry
University, and City College of New York.
Dr. Kleinman has written
for such peer-reviewed publications as JONA’s Healthcare Law,
Ethics, and Regulation, Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing,
Journal of Nursing Administration, Hospital Topics, and the Journal
of Health Administration.
A Keyport resident, Dr. Kleinman holds a
Ph.D. from Florida Institute of Technology, a master of science degree
from Adelphi University, and a bachelor of science degree from State
University of New York at Stony Brook.
