NJCU to Offer Two of Three Courses Required for N.J. Real Estate Broker Exam Eligibility
New Jersey City University will offer “30-Hour Ethics and Agency” and “30-Hour Office Management,” two of the three courses required by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission for eligibility to apply for the State’s real estate broker examination, on weekday evenings this fall.
“30-Hour Ethics and Agency” will meet November 3 through November 18 and “30-Hour Office Management” will meet December 1 through December 16. Both courses will meet 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, on the University campus at 2039 Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City.
“Ethics and Agency” covers the choices an individual has for representation as either a buyer or a seller and the duties and obligations of each role, fiduciary relationships, liabilities and penalties pertaining to disclosure, and the obligation of agents and sub-agents.
“Office Management” covers the responsibilities involved in managing the operations of a real estate office, including hiring and firing agents, setting goals and productivity standards, recruiting and training, budgeting, accounting, escrow accounts, records, employment agreements, fair housing issues, discrimination, and office set-up, policies, and procedures.
Combined with the “90-Hour General Core,” which must be completed first and is typically offered early each semester by NJCU, the courses meet the 150-hour pre-licensing education requirement of the Commission.
Registration for each course is $250.00, not including the course textbooks.
Those who enroll must have worked as a licensed real estate salesperson for the last three years. Those who successfully complete all three courses may submit an application to take the real estate broker examination to the New Jersey Real Estate Commission.
Examination eligibility is determined by the Commission.
To register for either course or for further information call the NJCU Office of Continuing Education at (201)200-3089, e-mail it at conted@njcu.edu, or visit its Web site at http://www.njcu.edu/continuing_ed/.
